Keshub Mahindra

Keshub Mahindra is an Indian businessman who was the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, one of India's leading business conglomerates, from 1997 to 2012. He is known for his contributions to the Indian business community, including his efforts to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility in the country's corporate sector.



Keshub Mahindra was also involved in the infamous Bhopal gas tragedy, which occurred in December 1984 when a gas leak from a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India, killed thousands of people and caused widespread environmental damage. At the time, Mahindra was the Managing Director of Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL), a subsidiary of Union Carbide Corporation, which owned the Bhopal plant. Mahindra was among the eight individuals who were convicted for their role in the disaster in 2010. However, he was released on bail and did not serve any jail time due to his age and health.
